JUNE 5 – LEYSIN: Arrival, activation of Swiss Passes, journey to Leysin, lunch, unpacking and afternoon hike to avoid jet lag.
JUNE 6 – LAUSANNE / CHILLON: Studied human centered design at the International Olympic Museum in Lausanne by examining how shoes on display have become more human centered over time and also by studying the success of olympic torch design through their form and function. The art of storytelling at the Chateau de Chillon came to life by reading Lord Byron's "Prisoner of Chillon," in the dungeon where it was written.
JUNE 7 – SION / MARTIGNY: Listened to the world's oldest playable organ and discussed how it became more human centered over time and examined working models of Leonardo Da Vinci's inventions at the Gianadda Foundation Museum to contemplate the source of his genius.
JUNE 8-10 – ST. BERNARD HOSPICE: Learning the trait of empathy by staying in the St. Bernard Hospice with the monks. Focus on contemplation of our lives and focusing on how to "design," them, as well as how to perfect the trait of storytelling and practicing mind-mapping.
JUNE 11 – LUZERN: Exploring the trait of meaning through study of The Dying Lion monument, as well as the unique and innovate design of the KKL and why it has been successful.
JUNE 12 – VALAISAN ALPS: Cow fighting is a large part of Swiss culture. This day focused on how to become efficient in "drawing on the back of a napkin," by creating iconic cow drawings.
JUNE 14 – DORNACH: An extreme example of human centeredness and design through a tour of the Goetheanum and discussion of Anthroposophical beliefs.
JUNE 15 – LEYSIN: Staying "home," splitting into groups and working on ideation and prototyping by coming up with an designing lockers for a Swiss company.
JUNE 16 – FRIBOURG: Expanded our right brains by completing blind contour drawings. Also covered storytelling, sympathy and empathy while walking the Saint James Way.
JUNE 17 – LAUSANNE: The study of innovative ideas through a presentation and ride on solar boats. Exploring the concept of symphony through a presentation and concert of a modern organ in a medieval gothic cathedral. Discussed the design and successfulness of failure of the Rolex Learning Center.
JUNE 18 – SPIEZ, OBERHOFEN, THUN: On site experimental research for the aptitude of "play," by viewing drawings etched into a wall in a castle. Designed our life through writing a personal grave monument inscription after viewing the bleak alter piece and it's inscription of "Be born, work and die." Become design "detectives," through a tour of Oberhofen castle and it's diverse rooms and history by choosing a well-designed room of our liking to write about.
JUNE 19 – BROC, GRUYERES: Learned about customer experience design by touring and partaking of all the Cailliers chocolate factory had to offer. Contemplating the symphony of a Tibetan museum that rests within a Christian Gothic church and finding meaning in the labyrinth of a mandala.
JUNE 21 – BERN: The effectiveness of design and display at the Natural History Museum. Also, a short lecture about Einstein and his genius on the street where he pondered his famous theory of relativity.
JUNE 22 – WEIL-AM-RHINE: Studied the balance of form and function at the Vitra House through a proper tour and walking through the displays within.
JUNE 23 – MURREN: Looked at the "big picture," and contemplated how to design our lives while hiking through the Lauterbrunnen Valley and receiving a lecture from Dr. Chris Fawson.
