Hunting and fishing are great hobbies for the sports enthusiast in Morgan. For the hunt, deer, elk and even moose have been taken by hunters. Permission is required to hunt on much of the ground in Morgan valley, so it's best to find out before you go. There is also state ground near East Canyon that is available to hunt on by the public.

Deer are mostly found in the lower mountains and foothills, but there are many who make their home in the river bottoms. They rarely venture out past the tree-lined fields that border the creeks and rivers.

Pheasant and goose hunting once abounded in Morgan County, but for many years few pheasants or geese were seen. In recent years they have returned, and bird hunting is gaining a foothold once again.

Fishing, both in East Canyon Reservoir and the creeks and Weber River is a great way to spend an afternoon. Several species of trout live in the waters of Morgan County, and fishermen can fly fish in a stream or on a float tube, troll from a boat or cast a spinner from shore with great success. Morgan boasts several major creeks that empty into the Weber River, including East Canyon creek, Deep Creek, Line Creek and Dalton Creek.

East Canyon Reservoir boasts a new campground, docks and ramp for boats. There is also a convenience store and a nice picnic area for day-campers. Kids can fish from the shore, or catch crawdads near the docks. Boating and fishing are both allowed, so you can plan a full day of fun while visiting.
